ABOUT

Born in 1990 in Warsaw, Łukasz Krupski is a sculptor and a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He is the recipient of numerous awards and artistic scholarships, including the prize in the stone sculpture competition in Neuzelle, Germany, the Father Janusz Pasierb Award, and the "Young Poland" scholarship. He is the creator of many sculptural works in Warsaw, including the Mother Monument in Wola, the Stations of the Cross in the Archcathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, and the bust of Cyprian Norwid at the University of Warsaw.
In his work, he raises the theme of the human being as a space where spirit and matter intertwine. He integrates sculpture into the phenomenon of encounter, giving it fundamental significance in the process of human interaction, an encounter that transcends the temporal dimension in which it seems confined. He regards sculpture as a tangible sign and record of human struggle with the mystery of self and the place of humanity in the surrounding universe.

It refers to the historical organization of the Miss Sarajevo contest under these circumstances. The sculpture expresses contrast and the need for beauty and freedom under conditions of oppression.
  • 2017 – Artistic residency in Heraklion, Crete. Project "My Myth of Europe." Organized by ResidenSEA. President Michela Paulisio. The residency culminated in a performance organized by me for the people of Heraklion: I prepared a clay sculpture representing Europe and a letter to the Greek gods expressing a return to the roots of European culture. Participants were invited to shape the sculpture, symbolizing the creative nature of culture. After this collaborative gesture, the sculpture with the letter in its hand was carried in a torch-lit procession to the sea, symbolizing the message being sent to its mythological origins.
  • 10-20.11.2016 – International Art Symposium in New Delhi, India. Project “Portrait of Brahma.” Organized by Iart. Director Suchismita Sachoo. A rich encounter with a different culture and my attempt to find common, universal experiences. I presented Brahma, one of the three most important deities of Hinduism, in a manner akin to the Christian depiction of God in three Persons. These similarities between cultures, like the multiple faces of Brahma, resonate deeply with our cultural roots.
  • 05.06-23.07.2016 – Artistic residency in Lanaken, Belgium funded by the Global Art Center. Project “Contemporary Oedipus.” Organizer Global Art Center. President Willy Gilissen.
